Hello and welcome to Whistle and Wag Dog Training, a Suffolk based dog trainers offering group classes and 1:2:1 consultations and training.

Run by two friends that have a mutual love of dogs and dog training who decided they would combine their years of knowledge and teach others how to train their dogs.

– Jemma
As a child growing up my family was never without a Labrador and I took the lead in taking them along to training.
Jemma believes that our dogs should be a valued member of the family that bring enrichment to our lives.
Dogs give us so much and it is our duty to look after them and to ensure they are well balanced members of the family.

– Nicci
I have had a life-long passion for dogs. Living life in the fast lane, I started my journey when I became the proud owner of my first Ferrari (working cocker spaniel!), called Purdey.
Something that I truly embrace is a challenge and training a spaniel is definitely up there on my list, however it is also one of my greatest accomplishments and one that continues to grow and progress.
Jemma and I both completed a dog behavioural training course with Robert Alleyne’s Canine Instructor Academy and with our combined skill base it was a no brainer to embark on a new venture together.

– Group Classes (classes of 6 handlers and dogs)
Monday evening at Nedging Village Hall, Suffolk.
An 8 week course covering the essential basics.
Get in touch to book your place now.

– 1:2:1 dog training (payment required prior to appointment)
May be better for dogs who need to work on a specific part of their training, or where owners want to top up their group sessions.
Can be completed at your home or location of your choice and after initial consultation you receive a training plan and tips to help continue your training.

– Puppy first steps home visit (48 hour cancellation policy applies)
Set your puppy off on the right path with a puppy first steps home visit where provide lots of hints and tips before they are even allowed to leave the house.
It is important puppies have the right start as the first few weeks you bring your new family member home are very formative times.
Get the foundations right and this will make your dog training journey much easier.

– Pet gundog training
We offer 1:2:1 pet gundog training as well as taster workshops at various locations around Suffolk.

– Nicci and Jemma are firstly dog lovers so believe that training should never cause the dog harm or undue stress.
– We are part of a group of trainers that believes in the ‘PRAMA’ methods – Positive Reinforcement And Minimally Aversive.
– We use positive reinforcement in the form of treats or individual motivation.

It is important to understand every dog is different and a dog that knows the rules of life, is a happy dog as it can spend more time having fun with its owner and not wondering if it will make the right choices.

We have done Whistle and Wag puppy and intermediate classes with our rescue schnauzer and and she is a different dog as a result. They have given fantastic and thoughtful advice about how best to help her overcome her fears and how to build a bond with her through positive training. Most of all it’s been great fun for both of us, she loves going there.

I have been training with Gemma, Niki & Molly at Whistle & Wag since my puppy, Copper, was 13weeks old. Copper is turning into a beautiful, well trained dog and this is good to the hard work Whistle & Wag put into their training with us all.
I thoroughly enjoy my Monday evenings with the group as does Copper who comes home mentally exhausted ☺️
