Hello and a swarm welcome to SAAF Bees – Beekeepers specialising in live honey bee removals and being based in Suffolk, we are in an ideal location for our bees to produce their beautiful and delicate honey as they forage in our own private woodland.

WHAT DO WE DO?
Started by Sam, a beekeeper who loves bees; going from being a hobbyist beekeeper through to a commercial operation, SAAF are focused on removing live honey bees safely and in an environmentally friendly manner whilst re-homing them to a new permanent hive – we are always happy to give advice and teach people about these amazing creatures and how to prevent bees from returning.

There are dangers when removing bees from locations such as roofs and chimneys, including working at heights, exposure to foreign materials and the sting risk so we take all the risk keeping our team, you and the public safe in the process.

WHAT TYPES OF REMOVALS DO WE DO?

• CHIMNEYS – safely and ethically relocate your house guests to a new hive
 • FLAT ROOFS – a perfect home for Honey Bees as its a warm, secure and dry location
• LOFTS – in-between the roof joists are some of their favourite places to set up a colony

HOW DOES IT WORK?

 • You contact us if you feel you have a bee issue
 • We carry out an initial inspection confirming the species and requirements (this may be a virtual inspection using ‘Google Street View’ and video call with you)
 • We book a date (only during bee season; end of March to end of September)
 • On the day we start gaining access through the flat roof and invite owners to observe and use techniques to remove the bees and comb during the day
 • Finally we powder the roof section ensuring its watertight until repaired by a qualified roofer/builder

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?

 • We are environmentally friendly – no chemical contamination when removing the bees and the comb
 • Fixed quotes so our price will not change on the day, even if it turns into 2 days, the price will not change
 • Full report of works carried out and bees re-homed

Sam is the Bee man you need!
He has an obvious passion for his job and his work was efficient and done with care and knowledge. After an emergency call to Sam at 5pm he travelled to me in another county to assess the situation and reassured us that he could remove the swarm from our chimney. He arrived to do this exactly when he said he would, staying in contact throughout. Friendly, professional and great at what he does. I would absolutely recommend SAAF Bees to anyone that is in the unfortunate position to have a swarm move into their house!

Nothing less than brilliant from start to finish! Professional, polite, highly knowledgeable with an obvious passion for the bees and their wellbeing. I would 100% use SAAF Bees again (although I hopefully won’t need to) and I would recommend them to anyone with a more complex bee swarm.

SAAF Bees thank you so much!

In October I came across some honeybees in my chimney whilst having a woodburner installed. This was obviously then held off over winter as didn’t want to harm the bees.

We had a company visit and quote us nearly £6000 for removal of the honeybees and comb, we were lead to believe we had to have some of the chimney rebuilt. We were also told that we had an old bee hive in the other chimney.

We came across SAAF bees only yesterday and he visited today.

Luckily the bees had safely vacated on there own accord. SAAF bees stayed after coming to investigate (as this was just a visit to see how things were and what needed to be done) although he stayed and removed the honeycomb today!! We were also told the delightful news that the other chimney doesn’t have honeycomb in it.

Such an honest service and for such a great price, Sam you’re clearly very passionate about your job and full of knowledge.

DO NOT go to any other company, we received an amazing service today!! If I could give 100 stars I would.

Thank you so much, I am so excited for a warm winter with my new woodburner! 😬 🐝 🍯

We were very impressed by the gentlemen who who came to inspect our bee infested chimney . Sam’s enthusiasm and knowledge were infectious and we were soon put at ease knowing that we had got the right people to deal with the problem.

Because the bees had only been resident for a few days and had not yet had the time to build a substantial nest,Sam was able to remove them there and then, thus saving money on scaffolding and chimney repairs. The thought that the queen and her subjects are now residing in sunny Suffolk is the icing on the cake. We would highly recommend them.

A wonderful day in the woods with Sam’s bees. A different birthday present for my husband, his Bee Experience was a big success, with Sam being so friendly, helpful and informative. Very hands on with excellent protective clothing. We would highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in bees. We had bought his honey last year at Beccles Farmers Market and look forward to doing so again. Delicious.

We had our bee keeper experience with Sam today and can’t speak highly enough of it. Set in Sam’s 5 acre wood we visited his bees and were able to inspect them, mark a queen and even got to see 2 bees being born ! It was a really unique experience, we weren’t just observing we were able to really get involved hands on. Sam took his time to ensure we could ask questions and really learn as we went through the day. We were supplied with high quality suits and able to take lots of photographs. Well worth the very reasonable fee.

We had a great morning learning about the honey bees. A real hands on experience. Set in beautiful woodlands. Sam answered all my questions and I feel like we learnt so much. We even got to try some raw honey. A great experience.
