Hello and welcome to Key Bowen Therapy.

I’m a Bowen Technique Practitioner based in Thurston near Bury St Edmunds where I provide Bowen in a therapy room or as a mobile service where I can come to you.

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that aims to promote healing and pain relief by stimulating the body’s natural ability to rebalance and repair itself. The therapy involves a series of precise, gentle movements over specific pressure points on the body, typically using fingers and thumbs, and occasionally elbows.

All appointments will be confirmed after the completion of a compulsory Health questionnaire.

• Health questionnaire
Before your session, you’re required to complete a health questionnaire which provides essential information about your medical history, current health concerns, and any pre-existing conditions.
This step provides a clear understanding of your health status before the session begins.

• In-depth questions
During the initial consultation, we will ask further questions to gather more details about your health and well-being of which may cover specific symptoms, pain levels, lifestyle factors and any recent injuries or surgeries.
Open communication is encouraged to ensure we can tailor the session to your individual needs.

• Medication and supplement information
It’s essential to bring a list of all medications you currently take including any supplements as this helps assess potential interactions and how they may affect your body.
Full disclosure ensures a safe and effective session.

• Clothing recommendations:
Wear light, comfortable clothing to the session, or bring a thin-strapped t-shirt and shorts (preferably not made of Lycra) as this allows us easy access to areas of the body needing attention during the session.
Comfortable clothing ensures you can relax and benefit from the gentle, precise movements of Bowen Therapy.

• Session overview:
Involves the application of gentle, rolling movements on specific points of the body which are often performed over muscles, tendons, and fascia.
They aim to stimulate the body’s innate healing mechanisms and known for its subtlety and effectiveness, with short breaks between sets of moves to allow the body to respond and initiate the healing process.

• Post-session recommendations:
After the session we may provide advice on post-treatment care that can include hydration recommendations, light exercises or lifestyle adjustments to support the benefits of the session.
Follow-up sessions may be discussed based on your individual response and health goals.
